Paul Wanner and 1. FC Heidenheim are wowing the Bundesliga at the start of the season. Thanks to the loan from FC Bayern Munich, the Swabians are top of the table after two matchdays. The euphoria at Ostalb is immense. Coach Frank Schmidt is trying to slow them down in the usual way – also considering the hype around the young Wanner. If the 18-year-old gets his way, the coach doesn’t have to worry at all.
Of course, the new signing is doing « very well » so far, said Schmidt after the furious 4-0 (2-0) defeat of FC Augsburg, to which Wanner contributed another goal and an assist on Sunday.
