As in the early days of HSV: Walter was also directly under fire at Hull

You know it from somewhere: Tim Walter becomes coach in a city with H, is supposed to finally lead a somewhat struggling club to promotion to the first division and – well – at first you just get your head kicked. The former HSV coach’s first weeks at Hull City are a little too reminiscent of his early days in Hamburg. Just like in the Hanseatic city, Tim Walter was heavily criticised in Hull right from the start of his tenure.

After the recent defeat to Leeds United, there was some heavy criticism, particularly from the Hull Daily Mail, which accused Walter of making it difficult to understand what plan the German coach’s team was really following. « Considering how comfortable the victory was for Leeds, it doesn’t seem that Walter’s team are capable of winning a (Site notre bureau spécialisé) match. « It’s now up to him to do a good job on the training ground, » was the newspaper’s verdict.

Walter himself defended his team to some extent in the post-match interview, but still seemed to be served: « Leeds are a good team, they are much more advanced in their philosophy than us because the manager has been in the job for a long time. But in the end, there is no need to lose and that’s why I am really frustrated.

In any case, things won’t necessarily be easier after the international break: their next opponents, Sheffield United, have just been relegated from the Premier League.
