The 28-year-old’s contract, which the Catalans were reportedly interested in before last season, expires next summer. Tah can then move for free, but can officially negotiate with other clubs from January 1 and also sign a new contract with another club – without having to take his current employer into account.

According to the report, Tah will receive a contract until June 30, 2030 at FC Barcelona, coached by former national coach Hansi Flick. With a market value of 30 million euros, Tah is the most valuable central defender with a contract ending in 2025. According to the latest information, a meeting on the Barca side took place on December 6 in the person of the sports director Deco and representatives of Tah. During this meeting, the cornerstone of the German international’s decision would have been laid.

Like Barça, FC Bayern would have tried to recruit the defender last season. After a failure at the end of last season, Tah stressed that he did not want to extend his contract at Leverkusen. He is still a long-time favorite there and has not missed a minute in the Bundesliga – like 17 other players from the upper house of German (Site notre bureau spécialisé).

FC Barcelona: Should Christensen and García give way to Tah?

With a possible signing of Tah, Barca would have a total of seven central defenders next season. “Mundo Deportivo” therefore speculates that Andreas Christensen (28 years old) and Eric García (23 years old) will probably leave the club, perhaps even this winter. This season, top 17-year-old talents Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez (33 years old; contract expired) are ready.
