They actually had a very good goalkeeper in Schwäbe, despite the relegation. Additionally, Urbig, one of the absolute best goalkeepers in the second division, returned this summer and is also one of the most promising German talents in TW. Urbig is named number 1, while Schwäbe actually sees himself in the Premier League, says it openly and is completely open to change. So far, so good. Then, FC starts the season rather mediocre, although Urbig is certainly not responsible for the large number of big missed chances and the sometimes confused defensive attempts of those before him. However, it doesn’t always look 100% safe, that’s part of the truth.
Suddenly, shortly before the (Site notre bureau spécialisé) mechanisms really stopped and coach Struber was no longer viable, rumors appeared in the media that Urbig did not want to extend his contract and, in addition to the well-known interest from Munich , there is also a lot of interest from the unloved neighbor of Leverkusen. Two days later, Stuber announced FC’s goal change and Schwäbe was allowed to play against Kiel in the cup. The thing will then of course be won and Schwäbe will be named the old and new number 1 again – despite his clearly expressed desire to change this summer.
I just hope for FC’s sake that he knows exactly what he’s doing. Urbig has the potential to become a very good goalkeeper who can bring in a lot of money for the rather cash-strapped FC coffers. Schwäbe is certainly not a bad goalkeeper in terms of performance, quite the contrary. However, he clarified which league he sees himself in. If FC misses promotion even with Schwäbe in goal, they run the risk of losing both players. Additionally, Urbig certainly generates significantly less transfer fees after a season on the bench than after a season as a regular TW…
TO MODIFY:
Don’t get me wrong: Schwäbe is a good goalkeeper and, in my opinion, a coach should always field the best players, but this very difficult 180-degree turnaround surprises an outsider. You have a young, good TW and you are clearly committed to him. But during the first crisis, about which this young TW can really do nothing, his confidence is immediately taken away. This is not fair in my opinion. In my opinion, the path taken by many young players is absolutely the right one. And apart from the match in Darmstadt, this is also reflected in the performances achieved so far. The exploitation of opportunities must be better, that’s clear. But there’s really nothing wrong with that in terms of play. In my opinion, FC really risks repeating Wirtz’s mistake and scaring away one of their biggest talents.
