Champions Manchester City have ended their results crisis. After seven consecutive competitive matches without a win, star coach Pep Guardiola’s side won 3-0 (2-0) at home against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. The goals at the Etihad Stadium were scored by Bernardo Silva (8th minute), captain Kevin De Bruyne (31st), starting for the first time in the league since mid-September, and Jérémy Doku (57th).
“The difference is that we won. That’s the difference. “We needed this, from the club, from the players,” Guardiola said after the match, according to Sky Sports. “We are still missing things, but the most important thing was to break this routine, after all we won. We will see how we treat our victory. It was better than against Liverpool and Bournemouth, but like other games we didn’t win. The difference today is that we won, that’s all.
In the standings, after 14 games, the reigning champions are nine points behind leaders FC Liverpool, who could not overcome a spectacular 3:3 (0:1) at Newcastle United. The Reds beat Man City 2-0 in a direct duel against the Skyblues last Sunday.
In Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Southampton: Red after grabbing Cucurella’s hair
Defender Marc Cucurella was at the center of Chelsea FC’s 5-1 (3-1) victory at Southampton FC. The Spanish international, who caused a sensation in the quarter-finals of the European Championship against Germany with an unpunished handball in the penalty area, was the victim of an unusual attack: Jack Stephens pulled the long hair of the professional from Chelsea and received a red card after the video referee intervened Card (39th).
Arsenal FC beat Manchester United 2-0 thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber (54th) and William Saliba (73rd). New Red Devils coach Ruben Amorim suffered his first defeat in the fourth competitive match.
