Real Madrid are back in the race for the Spanish La Liga championship. The record champions won 2-0 (2-0) against Madrid suburb club Getafe FC thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham (30th minute/foul) and Kylian Mbappé (38th), reducing to one point the gap with the championship leader, FC Barcelona. The Catalans, who played one more match than Real, surprisingly lost 2-1 against UD Las Palmas the day before.
DFB defender Antonio Rüdiger initiated Los Blancos’ home victory at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. The national player fouled Allan Nyom from a Real corner and Bellingham safely converted the following penalty. Shortly after, the former Dortmund player assisted the recently criticized striker Mbappé, who finished well from around 18 meters.
