Union Berlin have extended Tim Skarke’s contract. The Iron Men confirmed this on Friday. As usual, the new term was not announced. The 28-year-old arrived in Köpenick from SV Darmstadt 98 on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, but was unable to assert himself. This was followed by loan spells at Schalke and his former club. Skarke impressed the Lilies last season despite relegation from the Bundesliga with eight goals and two assists, and his market value increased from 1.2 million to 3 million euros.

« With Tim, we are securing a player who shows full commitment on a daily basis. Whether in training or in a match. In addition, with his speed, flexibility and finishing skills, he is an important part of our team and also leads the way in the dressing room. We are happy to have reached an agreement and can count on Tim, » said sporting director Horst Heldt, who blocked interested parties such as Mainz 05 in the summer.

Skarke, who has played every game of the new season but has only started once, added: « I am happy that Union is planning with me and that we will continue to move forward together. The last two years have not always been easy for me, but I am now even more optimistic about a successful season. I am looking forward to giving my all and I want to help the team with good performances. »
