SSC Napoli bid for Itakura – Borussia Mönchengladbach waving high transfer fee

TM Community Discussion

Is Borussia Mönchengladbach threatened with the next loss of a starting player in the week after the departure of national player Jonas Hofmann? Central defender Ko Itakura is moving to SSC Napoli as a potential successor to Min-jae Kim, who is set to join Bayern Munich. The Japanese, who moved from Manchester City to Bas-Rhin last summer for €5million, could give financially-struggling Borussia four times the purchase sum, it is said.

A sum that would place Itakura in the top 4 of Mönchengladbach’s most expensive sales and should at least give food for thought to the Bundesliga club, which now has five starts and 25 million in income and 10 million euros in expenses. Itakura’s contract runs until 2026, and the 26-year-old has more than doubled his market value in the past year. After ‘La Repubblica’ daily first reported interest in Napoli, Italian media soon after reported a considered offer of €20m. For Itakura, who recently announced to the « Rheinische Post » that he would not think of a change, Italy would be the fourth stop in Europe since 2019.

Itakura in Napoli? (Site notre blog d’information) community discussed

In the TM rumor, a possible departure of Itakura towards Naples is much talked about. « You always have to keep an eye on the overall situation, and that’s exactly why, as Borussia Mönchengladbach, I wouldn’t give up one of my few stalwarts (compared to the previous season) for what I consider like a fair market price, but far more (also taking into account the length of Ita’s contract), » writes user « g-soros » and adds, « Under no circumstances drop less than 20- 25 million and open another building site, there is already enough. »

User ‘Sittarder’ says of the rumored SSC offer: « If that’s the case, you actually have to do it together as part of the loss of Hofmann in order to get a proper defense replacement. for 8 to 10 million, then 20 million to make the offensive possible. But it’s going to be a lot. » User « Sverkos94 » attests: « You always have to see what the player wants. I think Itakura feels very comfortable in Gladbach, but if the Italian champions call, guarantee the Champions League and promise a place regular, he will definitely want to change. 20 million in our situation may be worth its weight in gold, although I wouldn’t want to give up on Itakura. »
