Union Berlin Extended with Captain Christopher Trimmel

1. FC Union Berlin have extended the contract of captain Christopher Trimmel. The « Iron » made no statement about the duration of the new working document. The 35-year-old arrived at Köpenick from Rapid Wien in the summer of 2014 and will start his tenth season for Union next season.

To date, the right-back has made 286 appearances for the capital club, in which he scored six goals. Personal details were made official during training camp in Campoamor, Spain, at 10.28am sharp – a hint of ten years at the club and the Austria international’s number 28 shirt.

Trimmel added: « When I arrived in Berlin over eight years ago, the clear goal was to move to the Bundesliga with Union at some point and I was convinced that I would experience something big with Union. The last few years have been incredibly emotional and formative for the club, but also for me personally, and I’m very happy to be able to continue to experiment and help shape everything.
