The new world champion successfully brought the trophy back to Argentina yesterday. There, he is now under the shelter of starred chef Nusret Gökce alias Salt Bae. Salt Bae posed with the players, took selfies and, most importantly, snatched the World Cup trophy, even pretending to sprinkle salt on the gold trophy in a familiar fashion.
This intrusive behavior was visibly uncomfortable for gamers and these images also caused outrage on the internet. Also because Fifa rules state that only very select groups of people are allowed to touch the trophy. This privilege is granted to current and former world champions, heads of state and certain FIFA employees.
Such foreign shame spread recently when Eintracht Frankfurt celebrated their Europa League victory over the Römer and the then mayor snatched the trophy without further ado.
